Job Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and highly organized Assistant Director to support the Head of School in leading our Montessori program. This pivotal role involves collaborating closely with senior leadership to ensure the smooth operation of academic programs, administrative functions, and student engagement initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring a passion for Montessori education, a strong background in administration, and experience working with students to foster an enriching learning environment. Key Responsibilities

1. Administration & Operations

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the school, ensuring compliance with licensing, safety, and accreditation standards.
  • Manage student records, enrollment, attendance, and communication systems.
  • Coordinate schedules, calendars, and logistics for school events, meetings, and activities.
  • Supervise administrative staff and support their professional development.

2. Financial Management

  • Prepare and manage the school’s annual budget in collaboration with the Head of School and Board of Directors.
  • Oversee tuition billing, payroll, vendor payments, and financial reporting.
  • Ensure proper documentation and record keeping for audits and compliance.

3. Human Resources

  • Manage hiring, onboarding, and personnel files for all staff.
  • Coordinate benefits, leave requests, and performance reviews.
  • Maintain a positive, supportive workplace culture consistent with Montessori principles.

4. Parent & Community Relations

  • Serve as a liaison between administration, faculty, and parents to ensure open communication.
  • Support parent engagement initiatives and assist in organizing community events.
  • Address inquiries and concerns with professionalism and empathy.

5. Compliance & Licensing

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of local and state regulations related to early childhood and elementary education.
  • Ensure the school meets all requirements related to health, safety, staffing ratios, and documentation.

6. Strategic Leadership

  • Support the Head of School and Board in long-term planning, accreditation processes, and school improvement initiatives.
  • Lead administrative systems that enhance efficiency and communication across departments.
