: Certified Nurse Midwife

Provides exceptional direct diagnostic and therapeutic care to women throughout the life cycle in the nurse midwifery model of care in both the office setting and labor and birth. The CNM works in collaboration with the attending physician as part of a multidisciplinary team. Cultivates a patient centric environment which focuses on the whole individual inclusive of physical, psychosocial, spiritual and functional needs of the patient, family and significant others. Serves as the focal professional for the continuity of care in patient care within scope of practice standards, as well as specialty specific standards to address and resolve problems that may arise. Graduate of an accredited Nurse Midwifery program-Certificate, Masters or Doctoral Program Experience Graduation from an accredited Certified Nurse Midwife Program. LICENSURE Certification from the American Midwifery Certification Board Connecticut State Licensed Nurse Midwife license, Connecticut State Registered Nurse License BLS/NRP certified DEA license, State of Connecticut Controlled Substance License Complete Electronic Fetal Monitoring course every 2 years Special Skills Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Knowledge of research methods, computer skills required PHYSICAL DEMAND Possesses physical and mental health necessary to care for patients and families.
