Job Description

The Villas - Independent Senior Living is in need of a full-time cook, and we are looking for an individual with experience cooking from scratch. The successful candidate will be working with a team of kitchen staff to create consistently delicious meals and desserts for our residents for both lunch and dinner. 

• One or more years of experience in a commercial kitchen.
• Must possess or obtain ServSafe Certification and Food Handler’s permit as regulated by state and local authorities. (The Villas will pay for certification) 
• Familiarity with general kitchen equipment and the ability to operate it safely. 
• Proficiency in various methods like baking, boiling, and grilling, and the ability to follow recipes accurately.
• Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate food preparation, portioning, plating, as well as the quality of the food. 
• Assist with inventory management, including ordering, receiving, and proper storage of food and supplies. 
• Maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized kitchen and food preparation area. 
• Interact with senior living residents courteously and professionally.
• Work well with other kitchen staff of dietary aides, and hospitality aides.
• Willing to learn on-the-job method.
• Report directly to the dietary manager.
• The ability to stand for extended periods and handle the physical demands of a busy kitchen.
• The ability to lift and carry items such as ingredients or supplies, often up to 30-50 pounds.
