Job Description

Join the team powering iconic snacks

At Frito‑Lay, our Maintenance Mechanics keep production humming. You’ll blend PLC savvy, strong electrical fundamentals, and hands‑on mechanical skill to solve problems fast—and prevent the next ones from happening.

How you’ll contribute

From the moment a maintenance call comes in, you’ll triage, diagnose, and act. Maybe it’s a control valve fault starving a pump, a 480V three‑phase motor tripping on overload, or a PLC input sending a bad signal. You’ll bring systems back online, document what you did, and plan preventive work to boost reliability.

Your core responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and install pneumatic and hydraulic systems, control valves, and both centrifugal and positive‑displacement pumps
  • Service AC/DC electrical systems; read schematics; utilize a volt‑ohm meter, amp meter, and oscilloscope
  • Leverage solid understanding of Programmable Logic Controls for automation stability
  • Execute preventive maintenance and track work through a computerized system
  • Machine parts on lathes and mills; perform repair/fabrication with arc and Heliarc® welding
  • Jump in on active repairs to help close them out and return equipment to service
  • Inspect equipment, develop repair lists, and set near‑term and long‑term actions to improve uptime
  • Share expertise by supporting entry‑level mechanics through complex tasks

Schedule, setting, and support

  • Full‑time role; hours vary by location and day‑to‑day priorities
  • Large, loud manufacturing spaces where temperature/humidity can fluctuate with the weather
  • Competitive pay, plus medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with company contribution, paid vacation, and more
  • Career paths across our parent company, PepsiCo

What you bring

  • Service orientation with clear, respectful communication
  • Flexibility to pivot between PMs and urgent calls without losing focus
  • Initiative to work independently and own results
  • Safety leadership —because safety is everyone’s job

Basic qualifications

  • 18 years or older; willing to work weekends and holidays
  • Lift 15–50 lbs with or without a reasonable accommodation
  • Stand and walk for long periods with or without a reasonable accommodation
  • Climb, bend, reach, stoop, kneel, and stretch for extended periods with or without a reasonable accommodation
  • Comfort working around extreme temperatures, humidity, hazardous/loud equipment, and slippery surfaces

Preferred qualifications

  • Electrical certification, technical school education, welding experience, and/or maintenance in a manufacturing environment
  • Managers often prefer about two years of mechanical/electrical repair training in manufacturing

If you’re earlier in your journey, explore our entry‑level opportunities that better match your current skill set. As part of our process, you will complete a hands‑on electrical skills test prior to the in‑person interview.

Technical proficiencies

  • PLC Troubleshooting Skills
  • Electrical Schematics
  • PLC Wiring Experience

What sets our team apart

  • Deep expertise with high‑voltage wiring (480V 3‑phase motors)
  • True multi‑craft capability across electrical and mechanical systems
