Virtus Healthcare Staffing seeks an experienced and compassionate Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN) to join our partner facility in Ottumwa, IA. In this critical care role, you will provide lifesaving interventions and skilled nursing care for patients experiencing medical emergencies. You'll join a fast-paced, high-acuity environment where every decision and action directly affects patient survival and outcomes.

As an Emergency Room RN, you'll be at the frontline of acute medical care, assessing patient conditions, stabilizing trauma cases, administering medications, and coordinating treatment with physicians and multidisciplinary teams. You'll play a vital role in identifying urgent health issues, initiating swift care, and ensuring accurate documentation while remaining composed under pressure.

• Provide high-quality, evidence-based nursing care for a diverse patient population in a busy ER setting

• Assess and triage patients upon arrival based on acuity and severity

• Initiate IVs, administer medications, perform CPR and advanced resuscitation when needed

• Collaborate closely with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement treatment plans

• Monitor patient responses and adapt care plans as conditions change

• Accurately document assessments, treatments, and outcomes in the EMR

• Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection prevention standards, and quality improvement initiatives

• Support families through stressful situations with empathy and clear communication

• Current RN license in Iowa or multistate compact license permitting Iowa practice

• Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - American Heart Association

• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification

• Iowa Mandatory Reporter - Child and Dependent Adult Abuse Certifications

• Prior emergency department experience strongly preferred

• Strong clinical judgment and crisis response capabilities

• Ability to multitask and remain calm in high-stress, high-volume scenarios

• Familiarity with trauma protocols, telemetry monitoring, and emergency medication management
